Next Unseen show

Print thisPrint this

Hi All,

Well as some of you may know, and some may not, I have been overseas for a while, but I'm back now and trying to sort out the next Unseen production.

Basically what we intend to do is something quite different. It will be more of a "fringey" thing - although not performed at exactly Fringe time.

We will do a normal three week season which will lead into the Fringe, with our last two performances including the first two nights of the Fringe.

The performance will consist of a number of shorter plays - altogether making up the title of "Pratchett Pieces Three".

It will be in two halves, with one half being taken up by a longer play "The Trial" - which is a witch's play. (45 mins)
The other half will be a number of Pratchett's short stories turned into sketches - about 4 of them which together will total another 45 mins.

So what I am looking for from you is to develop a "troupe" of actors who can take various roles throughout the whole lot of these plays and sketches.

I believe that this is going to be a really exciting production and addresses the true nature of community/grass roots theatre (almost Shakespearian style) where we have a troupe of actors who take on different and exciting challenges, and could be playing any role any night.

This will require an absolute commitment from all actors we chose to be versatile, reliable and have a load of fun.

So I almost need you to say "yes the project is exciting and I'm in" without even knowing your exact roles. You need to be happy to have a go at loads of different roles, and to allow me to have a pool of actors from whom I can choose the best person for the role at the time.

What say you all? Sound like fun?

Please let me know your thoughts on the matter.

Here are the dates:

Unseen Play _ Pratchett Pieces 3. Feb 2012. Not in Fringe but 2 days of the end of it in Fringe to get Fringe publicity.
· Production Week starts Mon Feb 6
· Performance Dates: Feb 10 to 25
· Rehearsals start 28 Nov in theory – take out week over Christmas.
· Therefore rehearsals start Tuesday 22 November
· Auditions Sunday 6 November
· Therefore I have September to write it?

Website is up and running

A scroll imp

Well the website is finally back up again!

It has been rewritten onto some brand new old parchment scrolls and it has also been redesigned a little, so that you can navigate your way more easily between the scrolls without tearing them up so much and bending the corner curls over.

Some things may be missing as our scribes are still working day and night to copy in all the information from the past nearly ten years of Unseen's existence. Some material will unfortunately remain forever in room 3b.

The scroll imps have also arranged things to make it possibe for scroll readers (or 'users') to magically create an 'account'. This means that YOU, the scroll user, can actually become a sort of part-time temp scribe yourself and write in comments about the shows that Unseen puts on. Right now, The Last Continent is playing, so if you have seen it, get scribing and tell us what you thought of it! If you haven't yet seen it, then get to it before Granny Weatherwax comes and stares at you!

Thanks to all who auditioned

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to all of you who auditioned for "Wyrd Sisters" on Sunday. There were so many people that you have made my decisions very difficult. Especially when there are so many possibilities of combinations of smaller roles etc etc.
The juggling act now begins.
I will let you all know how it goes as soon as I can.
Thanks once again for your attendance and enthusiasm.
Ciao,
Pamela

As per usual we will require a large cast of both males and females.

2011 Shows

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all of those who attended Monstrous Regiment recently.
We were thrilled by the audience response and some wonderful reviews.

As most of you know, we produce two Pratchett plays per year.

The first of these will be in April.

Audiences - save some of that Fringe time, money and energy for our next show.

Actors - keep an eye on this site for audition dates (sometime in January)

Ciao,
Pamela

Auditions for "Monstrous Regiment" will be held on Sunday June 6 at 3pm at the Bakehouse Theatre 255 Angas Street, Adelaide.

If you would like a character list so that you know exactly what roles you might be auditioning for please email me at pamela@unseen.com.au

Round the Traps

Notes from Pamela, Manager of Unseen:

1. The Scrollmaster is fantastic.
2. Keep an eye out (literally that is - DON'T BLINK) for a shot of our flyer on a TV commercial for the Fringe somewhere around the middle to late January.
3. Set Designer Damien has been very busy making bridges, doors, puppets and broadswords.

Demise of Kerbie

Kerbie the rat

We are sad to report the death of Kerbie the rat. He lived in our ceiling and had become something of an unofficial mascot for us, as he trod the boards above us every night, squeaking his little heart out about the agonies and ecstasies of the ratty coil.

Donate Yourself

Thank you to Golem Halagor for donating some of his own clay for use in moulding masks for our next production. Halagor said he had been scraping extra bits off his body for nearly a year now, and saving them in a jar for us. In similar news, we must also thank Witch Wildermia for sending in her old toenail clippings and leg hair - we'll be using them as Nobby's costume and the Patrician's moustache respectively in one of our next plays.

Unseen Name Game

Unseen University continues to bombard us with noisome writs, delivered by that zombie, Arcus Downe. Here is an extract of our reply to them:Unseen Uni Wizards

Dear Sirs,

In regard to your claim of breach of trademark, we were "Unseen" long before you were Unseen. For years, no one was seeing our plays - long before no one started seeing your lectures. We have achieved greater lack of recognition and publicity than has your university.

Lost/Found

MR ARCUS DOWNE, a zombie, has lost an arm. When exiting from The Bucket main doors last night, arms first, Mr Downe was side-swiped by a large passing troll and both arms were knocked off. The troll failed to remain at the scene or stop and leave his name and number. The City Watch is now looking for the troll, who is about 9 feet tall and of granite appearance.
