Sir Terry Pratchett's
"Unseen Academicals"

Original novel by Sir Terry Pratchett.
Adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs.
Re-worked for Unseen Theatre Company by Pamela Munt.

We all know that man cannot survive on bread alone - unless of course he is Lord Havelock Vetinari, Patrician of Ankh-Morpork. Vetinari usually dines on bread and water, followed by the oil that makes the city of Ankh-Morpork run smoothly.

Forget about "Back to the Future".

Unseen Theatre Company has more exciting things to do. It's going "Back to the Past".

That’s right, back to the first Pratchett play it ever produced at the Bakehouse Theatre eight years ago. Back to the most infamous city in the “multiverse” – Ankh-Morpork. Back to the origins of Sam Vimes, the City Watch and “Cut Me Own Throat” Dibbler.

Pyramids

Dates:
11 May 2007 (Fri) - 26 May 2007 (Sat)
Dates description:
Wed to Sat at 8pm

A play which may illuminate many mysteries – why tortoises hate philosophy, why too much religion is bad for goats, and what it is that handmaidens actually do.

When Teppic inherits the throne of the timeless desert kingdom of Djelibeybi rather earlier than expected (his father is not too happy about it either), he finds that being trained by the Assassin's Guild in Ankh-Morpork may not necessarily be the ideal background for the job.

This, of course, is only the beginning of his problems. Still, we all know, don’t we, that it’s good to be King.

Gasping

Dates:
13 Oct 2006 (Fri) - 28 Oct 2006 (Sat)
Dates description:

Ben Elton’s
“Gasping”

“Other people’s air, it’ll get right up your nose”

Having had enormous fun and received such a wonderful response from critics and audience alike in its production of Silly Cow this time last year, Artistic Director of Unseen Theatre Company Pamela Munt could not resist the idea of producing another marvellously witty comedy from the pen of Ben Elton.

Carpe Jugulum

The de Magpyrs are the sort of vampires that would have Count Dracula spinning in his grave. They are modern, forward-looking and no longer afraid of holy water, garlic, religious symbols or, indeed, of anything else.

They're out of the casket, and want a bite of the future.

Not only that, they've got style and fancy waistcoats.

Little do they know, that they should be afraid - very afraid - because the Lancre witches are on hand to save the Discworld and the battle is on!

The witches are about to "kick some bat"!

Making Money

Dates:
10 Apr 2009 (Fri) - 25 Apr 2009 (Sat)
Dates description:
Wed to Sat at 8pm

Moist Von Lipwig is given another offer that is too good to refuse. Who would not wish to be the man in charge of the Ankh-Morpork Royal Mint? It’s a job for life but, as former con man Moist Von Lipwig is learning, life is not necessarily for long. The Chief Cashier is almost certainly a vampire, every day Moist has to take the Chairman for “walkies” and there’s something nameless in the cellar. Oh, and it turns out that the Royal Mint runs at a loss. According to Moist, that’s what happens when you base the value of your monetary system on gold. So just what should he base it on?

Star Trek: "The Trouble with Tribbles"

Dates:
08 Mar 2006 (Wed) - 18 Mar 2006 (Sat)
Dates description:
Wed to Sat at 8pm

As any Trekker worth their salt will know, "The Trouble With Tribbles" is a universal favourite from the classic episodes where we see the bridge of the Enterprise invaded by cute, cuddly balls of fur with a propensity to breed and a hatred of Klingons. Scotty gets to defend the good name of "his" ship in a classic fist fight and what begins as a problem of plague proportions actually turns out to be a good thing when a Tribble accidentally becomes the means of detecting a Klingon spy.

DANCING AT LUGHNASA

We all know what dancing leads to, but what leads to dancing?

Unseen Theatre Company is proud to present, in association with some newly graduated performers from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts - Brien Friel's Dancing at Lughnasa.

The production, originally directed by Andrew Lewis, was performed at WAAPA in July this year to critical acclaim.
